Kauaʻi Lūʻau
An important part of Hawaiʻi life is celebrating special occasions together with family and friends at a lūʻau – a grand celebration of food, music and culture. Lūʻau are often held to celebrate family milestones – a baby’s first birthday, a graduation from high school, or a wedding.
Welcoming honored guests is another reason to hold a lūʻau, and visitors are welcomed to lūʻau on Kauaʻi every week. There are a variety of lūʻau venues around the island, including the ʻAuliʻi Lūʻau at the Sheraton Kauaʻi Resort and Spa and the Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Lūʻau at the Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Resort, both on the South Shore. You’ll also find the Smith Family Garden Lūʻau in Kapaʻa and the Lūʻau Kalamakū in the historic Kilohana Plantation.
You’ll dine on kālua pig cooked in an imu (earth oven), haupia (coconut pudding) and poi (Hawaiian taro starch), among many other delightful dishes. Then you can settle in under the stars, listen to live music and watch skilled hula performances that tell stories of the islands. For a colorful, interactive experience of our culture, there’s nothing quite like an authentic lūʻau – a must-have experience for any visit to Kauaʻi.
